The solar tracking system has two operating modes: sun sensor mode and calculation mode, which switch automatically. In sun sensor mode, a sun sensor equipped with a four-segment silicon photodiode captures the position of the sun in real-time with high accuracy. In calculation mode, when the output from the sun sensor cannot be obtained due to overcast conditions, automatic tracking is performed based on solar trajectory calculations by the CPU. The threshold for switching based on solar radiation intensity is calculated based on solar altitude (air mass) and latitude, ensuring appropriate switching at all times. The difference between the solar tracking position in calculation mode and the solar tracking position in sun sensor mode is learned in real-time. If the sun sensor captures the sun within ±15 degrees of the calculated position, the tracking learning function is activated, allowing for more precise solar tracking.
